- Community Engagement Session planned for May 22nd in lower borough hall
- Update: Session was held and had ~10 attendees and provided lots of great feedback regarding what they like, dislike, and would like to see as the use for the hall. Ideas were around resiliency hub, community centers, and use of buildings (nearby) as well as how we connect to our community partners (MRFC, Girl Scouts, neighboring boroughs).
· Streets Committee – Request to PC for review of updates to Borough Street Lights
- Street Committee Project Goal: Reduce costs to Borough and work toward LCAP 2035 Goal of 100% renewable energy for the borough by updating borough Street Lamps to be powered by solar panels and install visors to reduce light pollution.
- Update:
- Based on the installation of LEDs, the current streetlamps are expected to last through 2030 at the earliest. 2033 may be the timeline to approach if not as part of another grant request (e.g. perhaps in tandem with Building request for solar power of Borough Hall).
- If part of Building updates, it may be possible to tie the electric into borough hall.
- Light shields are not advisable unless they can be added as part of a larger replacement project; it will likely cost >12K to do just this including labor.
- Add: Accessibility in the borough, recommendation would be to have a civil engineer to assess for safety and dark spots.
- Could also assess code adherence for trees, sidewalks, etc.
