Mayor’s Report:
- Swarthmore Police Department Report – Ken Torres-Zickler
- Questions regarding intersection of Swarthmore and Morton Ave stop lights.
- Accidents are and were not common at this intersection, but are “ten bellers” when they do occur. The majority of accidents are operator error.
- Largest complaint regarding the light is that one direction does not have a stoplight on the pole (only above, for which line of site is lost if you pass the stop line).
- If there is a camera on the light, but it is not accessible to SPD. Likely requests need to be made to PennDot. Chief Stufflet will follow up on this question.
- It is recommended to report speeding issues even if it feels they police will not arrive in time, as reporting the same car can help build a history and aid the officers in identifying repeat offenders.
- 911 is the correct number to call for concerns; it is also considered the non-emergency line for our area.
